Warriors stand strong

wiki1.gifThe Vodafone Warriors have become the highest profile team to sign the Drug Free Sport NZ pledge today. As part of the annual drug education seminar delivered to NRL clubs, athletes were given the opportunity to sign the pledge and wear the green armband that is being worn by over 750 athletes around New Zealand. Captain Steve Price was amongst those who signed as was Kiwi legend Ruben Wiki. "It's a great message and it should be promoted to young people", said Price. The opportunity to promote the pledge was offered by Warriors football manager Don Mann, and was conducted as part of a session provided with team doctor Dr. John Mayhew.
Athletes were reminded that they should always check medications before they are prescribed or purchased. "Our new txt service called 'drug space' now makes it very convenient to check medications and substances", explained DFSNZ education programme manager, Andrew Sylvester. Athletes were also given the latest info packs from DFSNZ. Over 20 players signed the pledge and coaching and management staff joined in also.
