Education well received at national dive champs.

drug_free_sport_danyon_load.gif07-07-08 Drug Free Sport NZ and Diving New Zealand provided opportunity for young athletes to be educated about anti-doping issues at the Diving NZ Nationals hosted at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre late last week. An outreach was conducted and athletes enjoyed the opportunity to compete for a "Pure Playing Field Nation" sports towel by completing the WADA Athlete Anti-Doping Quiz.
Athletes were competing for a place in an upcoming series to be hosted in Australia, and some Australian athletes also attended the event and participated in the outreach also. Diving patron and Olympic Champion Danyon Loader was very supportive of the programme and worked through quiz questions with young athletes. He also stressed the importance of education and staying current to the young athletes in attendance.
Many young divers also signed the drug free pledge and proudly wore their armbands as a sign of their commitment to clean sports. Photos from the event can be seen by clicking here.
