Education Seminars

As part of the Drug Free Sport NZ's Education Programme we present seminars on Drugs in Sport to interested groups. Usually a seminar consists of the following:

  • Brief History of Drugs in Sport.
  • Drug Free Sport NZ history and organisation overview.
  • Global Anti-Doping.
  • Banned Subtances.
  • Therapeutic Use Exemptions.
  • The risks to athletes, sport and nations associated with drugs.
  • What happens in a drug test?
  • The results and procedures for management of results.

Presentations can be tailored to each group to ensure the most appropriate messages are being passed on. The primary audience is athletes but sports academy students, tertiary students, team managers/coaches and other athlete support staff also receive presentations on a regular basis. Each presentation will incorporate time for questions to be asked and the latest information resources will also be distributed.

A group of at least 5-7 people is normally the minimum for a presentation to take place. We can adequately cover most of the larger centers but is limited in its ability to get to all smaller centers and some contribution to costs may be requested.
