VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE
NEW WADA RULE FOR ATHLETE WHEREABOUTS
As at 1 January 2009, i.e., the commencement of the Quarter you are about to submit for, a new International Rules comes into effect requiring all athletes on Registered Testing Pools to submit a 60-minute time slot for every day of the Quarter. The WADA International Standard for testing Article 11.1.4 reads as follows: “An Athlete in a Registered Testing Pool is also required to specify in his/her Whereabouts Filing, for each day in the forthcoming quarter, one specific 60-minute time slot where he/she will be available at a specified location for Testing. This does not limit in any way the Athlete’s obligation to be available for Testing at any time and place. Nor does it limit his/her obligation to provide the information specified in Clause 11.3 as to his/her whereabouts outside of that 60-minute time slot. However, if the Athlete is not available for Testing at such location during the 60-minute time slot specified for that day in his/her Whereabouts Filing, and has not updated his/her Whereabouts Filing prior to that 60-minute time slot to provide an alternative time slot/location for that day, that failure shall amount to a Missed Test and shall therefore constitute a Whereabouts Failure for purposes of Code Article 2.4.” To be consistent with the International Standard: Testing, the on-line Athlete Location Form (ALF) is now called the on-line “Whereabouts Filing”. For the full 2009 International Standard. To view this standard, please click on the link in the right hand column and download the PDF document. The instructions for adding the 60-minute time slot are: Adding 60-minute time slot The new addition of the 60-minute time slot requires Athletes to provide a 60-minute time slot between 6:00am and 11:00pm (effectively a 10:00pm start time to the 60-minutes) where you will be available and accessible for testing. When entering your 60-mintue time slots, you will see a blank calendar for each of the 3-months of the upcoming quarter. Every day of this quarter must be allocated a 60-minute time slot between the hours of 6.00am and 11.00pm before you will be able to progress any further and submit your Whereabouts Filing to DFSNZ. To enter a 60-minute time slot you will have to click on the add/change 60-minute time slot button. From there you will need to select a location from the drop down menu and then select if you want that location to be your 60-minute time slot for multiple days or only one day. Then, select the days of the week when you will be at the specified location. Next, select the date range where you will be at the selected location. Finally, select the time you will be at the specified location. DFSNZ recommends that you pick a consistent 60-minute time slot and then change it according to your travel/competition schedule. If you have forgotten to add a location in your quarterly whereabouts, you can add extra locations here as well to be used for a 60-minute time slot. If you have any questions about the Whereabouts Filing, you may contact DFSNZ via email or by phone on 0800-378-437 (inside N.Z.) or +64-9-574-6370 (outside N.Z.) |
